Take My Love to the Friends
The Story of Laura R. Davis

by Marlene Macke

Chestnut Park Press is proud to publish its first book, a biography entitled Take My Love to the Friends The Story of Laura R. Davis.

In making the announcement, author Marlene Macke said, “This biography recounts the life of one of the largely unknown Canadians who was instrumental in building the Canadian Bahá’í community, a Faith new to Canada at the turn of the 20th Century.”

“For over six decades, when few women took leadership roles in their faith community, Laura gave unstintingly as a hostess, administrator, speaker, mentor and traveller,” Marlene Macke said, “I think people will find her story inspiring.”

Take My Love to the Friends delves into archival records and private correspondence to trace Laura’s service. Reminiscences from her friends round out the story.

“… we are grieved by the passing of dear Laura Davis whose fidelity and unswerving commitment to the promotion of the best interests of the Faith over many decades have earned her an enviable position in the annals of the Canadian Bahá’í community. Her record of dedicated service stands as an example to present and future generations of Canadian believers labouring to propagate the Cause of Bahá’u’lláh and to establish its institutions…” The Universal House of Justice
